Thyroid Conditions

When neck swelling, fatigue, or voice changes point to a deeper hormonal cause

Feeling Tired, Swollen in the Neck, or Hoarse?

Your Thyroid May Be Involved.

Dr. Peerbaccus helps detect and monitor thyroid nodules, goitre, and related ENT symptoms — working with endocrinologists when needed for comprehensive care.

What Is the Thyroid?

The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland in the lower front of your neck. It plays a vital role in regulating:

◎  Metabolism
◎  Body temperature
◎  Energy levels
◎  Weight
◎  Heart rate

When it’s not functioning properly or becomes enlarged, symptoms can show up in the voice, swallowing, and appearance of the neck.

When to Suspect a Thyroid Problem

◎  Noticeable swelling or lump in the neck
◎  Feeling of a “tight collar” or pressure when swallowing
◎  Persistent hoarseness or voice change
◎  Fatigue, weight changes, or cold sensitivity
◎  Difficulty breathing when lying flat
◎  Family history of thyroid disease

How Dr. Peerbaccus Evaluates the Thyroid

◎  Neck palpation and visual assessment
◎  Flexible endoscopy to check for airway or vocal cord impact
◎  Ultrasound referral to view thyroid structure
◎  Fine needle aspiration (FNA) referral if a nodule is found
◎  Collaboration with endocrinologist for hormone testing and long-term treatment

Conditions Managed

◎  Goitre (thyroid enlargement)
